Why I chose to become an Acupuncturist

Alternative Medicine

That’s just it, I wanted to offer alternative medicine. I’ve always been drawn to helping others, educating and wanting to offer a health service that resonates with people. By no means am I here to replace western medicine, but instead to work alongside, and offer a complimentary, holistic approach. It’s no rumour that there is a shortage of medical doctors, so being able to offer an alternative medicine that treats the body as a whole, I feel is a huge asset to the health industry.

Acupuncture is not just about sticking needles into the body and being on your way. It’s a gateway if you will - a gateway to finding and bringing balance back to the body. It’s a process of building a relationship with yourself (from a health perspective), which in return may have the ability to create and sustain a healthier lifestyle. It works on getting to the root of an issue, instead of just cutting off the branches on the tree (metaphorically speaking). A practitioner will treat those unwanted symptoms and at the same time go deeper and get to the root of the problem. With a proper diagnosis, a registered acupuncturist can come up with a treatment protocol that best suits each individuals needs. Another reason why I love acupuncture is because of the mental and emotional health aspect. It takes into consideration emotional, mental and physical health along with the environment a person surrounds themselves in – such as seasons, climate, and food energetics. Therefore, the body is looked at as a whole and if one thing is in excess or lacking in some cases, it can start to cause imbalance and even disease. Acupuncture is used for preventative health, and when started can become a necessary investment.

Acupuncture falls under the category of Traditional Chinese Medicine. This medicine has been around for over 3000 years, and I am happy to be able to re-introduce and share it with others. Having said that, I am beyond thrilled to be offering this alternative medicine in colchester county.
